Love listening to your story Sean!
❤❤
A great listen! Very much enjoyed the insight and backstory of Sean.
Oh my god…YES- i used polycount and 3DTotal back in the day for everything 3d tutorials and looking it work…
Wow, What you now and how you can do the job.
By far the bestt explanation i have ever seen for Ocean Simulations!! Thank you soo muchhh!!
You're welcome! We're expecting to see your best Ocean sims soon! 😎🌊
Great video, was listening to this right after diving into the deep end on game design documents. As a software engineer of 6 years, I recently got laid off and trying to decide what I want to do next with my life. I could jump right back into what I was doing before (and probably make considerably more money), but I’m torn by this childhood dream of mine to create a video game world that truly felt alive in ways that weren’t technologically possible when I was a kid, but entirely doable now. However, I feel like the world has changed - as technology has gotten better and content has exploded to truly impossible levels, I worry that the effort might not be worth it anymore? Like think of all the tremendous amounts of work that goes into creating games, usually tens to thousands of people working on something for years, but then it’s consumed by the players in a matter of hours or perhaps a few days. The goal would hopefully be for them to dwell on the game and take something away from it, but I feel like people are more likely to just immediately move on to the next thing, and inevitably, the game in question won’t be consumed at a later date like a movie would, as technology would leave it behind. So a bit of an open ended question, as its answer is unique to each individual, but: is it worth it? Like, I’m not a talented artist, so game design is the closest thing I have to leaving something behind in this world, but there are already so many phenomenal games that have been lost to time in my lifetime alone… I ask this here mostly as a question towards these people who’ve been in the industry for 20+ years and seen their own works move in and out of the public eye. Thank you for reading this far into my existential ramblings, lol!
Hi Viktor, thanks for checking out our panel and for sharing your thoughts around your career in game design -- which are legitimate and very relatable. We'll share your comment with the panellists for them to weigh in on, but in the meantime sending love for the open-ended, existential quandaries that are important to reflect on and can take us a while to unravel 🧡🎮
Brilliant!
We agree! 🤩
Daniel is the best 🤟
We couldn't agree more! 😎
i want to join so bad
Hi Jake! Drop our admissions team an email at hello@cgspectrum.com ☺ We'd love to meet you!
This is only in the current. Ai is already replacing graphic designers. More breakthroughs will be made with Ai. The timeframe is anyones guess, though.
AI is certainly progressing and, with that, will become a more powerful and efficient tool for us to use. Thanks for checking out our page!
Day 7 ❤
Thanku mam
How can i find this rig
Thanks i lost my word it's too helpful to me ❤
Glad you found this tutorial helpful!
Thanks mark it's very useful to me thanks for free❤❤❤
Thanks for tuning in!
This is clearly ai generated, impressive though
I see what you did there
4:49 - this is why game developers today are bad at games. Don't WARN player, don't hold our hands!. Let the players figure it out, let them (suffer) until they get it done. That's the golden recipe of making games fun. Not this x-ray vision, hold my hand BS. The robots in Bioshock are fun. But the reason why they are useful - is because the enemy hordes can be brutal to fight against, especially the Big daddies. What you guys have here is three guys in a room with a player that can't aim - FPS style. That is the key problem.
Goood!!
awesome talk! loved it :)
Thanks for tuning in! :)
my animated series is 0.01% complete
So many amazing and talented individuals in the field of animation nowadays, makes me wish there was a proper cinematography university where I live...
underrrated tbh this is awsome
I hope you let us know which movies/shows/shorts you'll be working on! This is amazing!!
Im 21 working on a computer science degree, but I always wanted to do animation. I thought that it wouldn’t be possible since I’m bad at drawing but this video helped me realize that I should just pick up the pencil and try it. Once I graduate and get a computer science degree I will consider going back to school to learn animation
We're so glad to hear that. It's always worth pursuing your dreams, even just to try 🧡 When you're ready, check out our Career Pathways resource to learn more: www.cgspectrum.com/career-pathways/animation Hope to meet you someday :)
Wooooow 👍💖
Amazing job!!
That’s awesome!!
So good🎉
Thank you! 🤩

It seems the most of the time I try to figure out how to import and export, so that it actually works in the engine...
I enjoyed this, but I don't know how well these tools would work with someone like myself with crippling self-doubt, but I'mma give it a shot. Nice chat ladies.
🧡Sorry to hear that you're dealing with that. Hope these techniques can help you even a little bit. Thanks for tuning in

do a game designer write code or is that another role?
Hi there! It really depends on what kind of game design role you have -- you might work as a game designer or you might break the role into separate roles, like level designer and systems designer. There's also a game programmer, who uses coding to develop the software to create video games. For a detailed look at what skills and softwares are normally needed for each role, check out our career pathways page here and check out the different roles: www.cgspectrum.com/career-pathways/game-development If you'd like to know more, send us an email at hello@cgspectrum.com :)
How do your classes adapt to people who've drawn their whole lives or have already gone to art school and need to fill skill gaps?
Hi there! In this specific instance we'd ask them to send through their portfolio to asses their skills first, and then develop a study plan where we can address those gaps ☺Get in touch with us at hello@cgspectrum.com if you have any questions!

when I sell assets that include assets from other package that I sell separately. Should I do something for someone who bought both to not duplicate assets? I think to make this structure /content/company name/package name and /content/company name/common

Interesting
Is the core valid for all specializations? Kathy mentioned a lot about art and vfx and there is some classes about cinematography? Is that valid for programmers or game designers?
Best podcast with a subject which is very relevant..
Thanks for tuning in! Mark is hosting another event around this topic in a few weeks. Sign up for our newsletter to get a registration link!: www.cgspectrum.com/newsletter
